Services Continuum
We are proud of our program development over the last 3
decades and especially our person centered approach that empowers our
consumers to grow and develop new skills toward a better
life.
Housing is currently the main service of Mental Health
Kokua with nationally accredited programs offered statewide. Mental
Health Kokua has a long history of innovative programming to serve
persons with special psychiatric needs. A summary of our services is as
follows:
Safe Haven. For persons who
are homeless and have a mental illness Safe Haven offers outreach,
medical and psychiatric care, case management, 24-hour residential
services, and social rehabilitation activities. Mental Health
Kokua and Helping Hands Hawaii work collaboratively in operating this
unique project in Downtown Honolulu.
Therapeutic Living Program. Designed as an immediate, short-term alternative
to institutionalization, Interim Housing services include community
placement, access to clinical care, and linkage to needed community
resources. Interim programs are located on Oahu and in Hilo.
Transitional Residential Resources.
Mental Health Kokua offers 24-hour supervised group residential
facilities and individualized services in transitional housing
settings. Agency projects in this category that serve
consumers with serious mental illnesses are located on Oahu, in East
Hawaii and West Hawaii, on Maui and on Kauai.
Supportive Living Housing Sites.
Supportive group housing is provided on a less intense level, with
consumer support available 8-16 hours a day on site and 24 hour
on-call. Residences are located on Oahu, on Maui, in East
Hawaii and West Hawaii, and on Kauai.
